The Wunderlust Treehouse in Crane Hill, Alabama

The Wunderlust Treehouse in Crane Hill, Alabama

I can’t believe we are already halfway through 2021! Now that I have been YouTubing and documenting the best stays for almost two years, I have decided it’s time for a roundup of one of my viewers most favorite type of home: the treehouse! These are the 5 (well, 7) that I think you need to add to your wishlist.

**Note: by definition, not all of these are proper treehouses. However, all are built either around a tree or among the trees.

1. The Wanderlust Treehouse Crane Hill, Alabama

This has to be one of my favorite stays of all time. My wife and I had an absolute blast here and we were lucky enough to meet the owners, Brad and Mitzi, who were some of the nicest people on the planet. This treehouse is kind of in the middle of nowhere so it is best stop at a grocery store on your way and enjoy most of your meals at “home”.

The highlights include: outdoor showers, an in-suite bathtub, a swinging bridge, several acres of privacy, walking trails and a beautiful pond, comfortable outdoor seating and swinging daybed.

2. The Acorn Treehouse or The Leaf Treehouse Fredericksburg, Texas

We’ve traveled to Fredericksburg, Texas a few times because they are a hub for unique stays. The location is great, too—there is a walkable downtown that is perfect for beep-bopping and it is said to be the next Napa Valley. You can check out the Fredericksburg Wesbite to find more information on the wineries in the area. If that isn’t your cup of tea, however, you will be just as happy spending the majority of your time at the treehouse.

The highlights include: Reading nook, outdoor bathtub, comfortable outdoor seating, close proximity to downtown Fredericksburg

3. The Hemlock Treehouse or The Beech Treehouse Hocking Hills, Ohio

Hocking Hills is another area with many incredible stays. I feature quite a few places in Hocking Hills on my channel but these are the two treehouses in the area that I can personally recommend. For those who are unfamiliar with Hocking Hills, the area is great for hiking, canoeing, zip lining and other outdoor activities. It is definitely worth visiting, especially if Ohio is your home state.

The highlights include: located in a ravine, beautiful woodwork, wood fired hot tub, pet friendly, lots to do in the area

The Sanctuary Treehouse

4. The Sanctuary Treehouse Cabin Asheville, North Carolina

This treehouse is perched on the side of a mountain so you’ve got amazing views of the trees for miles. The sun sets right in front of the deck which makes for the most peaceful evening. Of course, Asheville has a wide variety of restaurants and no shortage of things to do. If you are a fan of Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter, the hosts actually have other themed properties that could be fun too! Check out Wizards Hollow or Hobbit Knoll.

The Highlights Include: breathtaking views, proximity to Asheville

The ATL Treehouse

5. The ATL Treehouse East Point, Georgia

This treehouse is a stunner and it is located less than 20 minutes from the Atlanta Airport! The host, Darrel, has mastered the art of experience by providing multiple add on options including a 3 course meal by a celebrity chef, an onsite couples massage, and even a violinist with dinner. There is also lots of decking space that is perfect for hosting events (bridal showers, small receptions, etc.). Although you are secluded from the hustle and bustle of the big city, being close to Atlanta does have its benefits! You are only a short drive from restaurants and shopping.

The Highlights Include: amazing add ons, lots of outdoor space, hot tub access, proximity to Atlanta
